Summary

A weakness in the pseudo random number generator (PRNG) used by OpenBSD, Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, Darwin, NetBSD, FreeBSD, and DragonFlyBSD to produce random DNS transaction IDs and IP fragmentation IDs allows an attacker to detect the algorithm used and predict its next values, enabling DNS cache poisoning attacks on OpenBSD DNS servers and IP fragmentation ID prediction for fingerprinting and idle-scanning.
