Summary

DomainTools' Domain Risk Score uses DNS and data science to proactively uncover threats, analyzing 350+ million domains and 11 billion historic Whois records to identify domains registered with malicious intent. The Threat Profile, a set of machine learning algorithms, generates risk scores for new and updated domain registrations, indicating the likelihood of malicious intent. Three classifiers, one each for phishing, malware, and spam, are trained on curated blocklist data and domain metadata, using features such as domain name, registration information, and infrastructure data. The classifiers are continually tested and optimized to improve accuracy, using metrics such as ROC curves, PR curves, and F1 scores. The goal is to identify domains that may become dangerous in the near future, allowing organizations to augment their existing threat intelligence processes.
