Summary

Researchers developed a data-driven offline optimization method, PRIME, for designing hardware accelerators, which learns a conservative estimate of the desired cost function from logged simulation data and optimizes the design without additional simulator queries, improving performance over simulation-driven methods by 1.54× and 1.20× for single- and multi-applications, while reducing simulation time by 93% and 99%.
