Summary

Yorùbá Dependency Treebank (YTB) is a newly released treebank of hand-annotated parts of the Yorùbá Bible, providing an avenue for dependency analysis of the Yorùbá language using the Universal Dependencies (UD) framework. Yorùbá is a low-resource language with 40 million speakers, mostly in Nigeria, Benin, Togo, and across the Atlantic. The treebank is based on the UD project, which provides a universal inventory of categories and guidelines for consistent annotation across languages. The YTB utilizes the MISC column to provide English glosses and focuses on Bible chapters available in other languages in UD. Yorùbá-specific decisions include annotation guidelines, tokenization, and handling of tone marks and diacritics. The treebank has been manually checked and corrected, and its size has been doubled by adding new annotated sentences.
