Summary

Researchers propose a method to reduce overhead in superconducting electronics by utilizing Josephson Junctions (JJs) at cell boundaries to increase fan-out, and establish rules for discretizing critical currents. This approach, called cell IC ranking, simplifies the design of multiple-fan-out SFQ circuits and leads to a 48% savings in JJ count for a tree with a fan-out of 1024, and an average of 43% savings for signal splitting and 32% for clock splitting in ISCAS'85 benchmarks.
