The initial concept aimed to make life easier for forms developers and users, achieving high productivity in line with 4GL theory. Friend developed the first version of Oracle Forms in just over 4 weeks, using C and incorporating features such as interactive design, dynamic guidance, and transactional integrity. The product was initially named IAF, then changed to Fastforms, SQL Forms, and finally Oracle Forms and Reports.
