Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a countermeasure to the impact of Quantum Computing on public-key cryptography. This paper proposes a new software stack, the Quantum Software Stack (QSS), to integrate QKD into software-defined infrastructures, and presents its practical integration into Kubernetes, a standard for container orchestration. The QSS manages QKD network complexity and provides a straightforward interface for security applications, supporting multi-hop and long-distance QKD exchanges, and routing capabilities. The integration of QSS into Kubernetes enables the adoption of QKD systems in multiple domains, such as Cloud, Fog, and Edge Computing, NFV, and IoT.
