Summary

The Web is a space where personal information harvesting occurs, and decentralized Web-based ecosystems like Solid aim to combat this by enabling individuals to manage their data. However, querying personal data stores in these ecosystems requires efficient privacy-preserving techniques. This position paper proposes a framework for privacy-preserving federated querying and highlights open research challenges and opportunities. The framework aims to optimize querying through privacy-preserving aggregation and enable federated querying with access control. It discusses background and related work on Solid, federated query processing, approximate membership functions, and access control, and presents a motivating use case scenario. The paper also introduces a framework for efficient privacy-preserving federated query execution and discusses possible instantiations and challenges.
