Summary

The EASIER project involves deaf users in the development and evaluation of signing avatars to achieve legibility and trust. A questionnaire-based methodology was developed to collect guidance and preferences from signers of different sign languages (Greek, French, German, and Swiss German) on avatar animation. The questionnaire assesses perceived naturalness and comprehensibility, with users rating aspects of avatar performance on a scale of 1 to 5. Pilot implementation with Greek Sign Language content showed the effectiveness of the methodology in collecting user feedback. The goal is to improve avatar animation legibility and clarity through steady user involvement and evaluation.
