The function takes a message block, its index, intermediate hash value, and salt as input, and outputs the next intermediate hash value. Cheetah has two procedures for hashing: with and without salting, and the padding process involves appending a bit, zeros, message length, and digest size to the message. The final digest is produced after processing all message blocks and applying a last block permutation and truncation if necessary.
