Center for Computational Sciences (CCS) at University of Tsukuba has developed and deployed several supercomputers, including COMA cluster with Intel Xeon Phi and HA-PACS with GPU accelerators. The new supercomputer, Cygnus, is a next-generation accelerated supercomputer with GPU and FPGA technology. Cygnus has two types of computation nodes: "Deneb nodes" with CPU and GPU, and "Albireo nodes" with CPU, GPU, and FPGA. The system consists of 48 Deneb nodes and 32 Albireo nodes, with a total theoretical peak performance of 2.4 PFLOPS (double precision) and 5.12 PFLOPS (single precision). Cygnus is the world's first GPU-FPGA equipped supercomputer open for public use.
