Summary

Conservation Volunteers International Program led a volunteer trip to Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, Chile, from December 3-15, 2012. Eight volunteers performed approximately 380 hours of work on 5 km of trail, improving its condition to "excellent". The team removed 1,700 boulders, built water bars and drainages, widened narrow trail segments, and constructed new stone steps. They also improved an unofficial overlook, closed unofficial trails, and repaired bridge approaches and steps. The work included erosion control, slough removal, and embankment construction, resulting in significant improvements to hiker safety and trail quality.
