Summary

Sharpen the blade prior to use by removing the iron cap, loosening the chrome plated iron cap screw, and turning the brass thumbscrew anti-clockwise. Remove the blade and hone it to 30° using a flat oil stone and thin machine oil. Reattach the blade and iron cap, ensuring the iron cap edge is parallel to the blade edge. Adjust the depth of cut using the brass adjusting nut and throat depth using the plated lever and brass lock nut. For best results, keep shaving thickness to a minimum, maintain the plane base in line with the workpiece, and lift the plane at the end of each stroke. Keep the blade sharp, oil metal parts, and store the plane on its side when not in use.
