Summary

Stainless steel is a low-carbon steel containing at least 10% chromium, giving it corrosion-resisting properties. Mills Partitions use type 301 stainless steel with 16-18% chromium and 6-8% nickel for its durability and resistance to corrosion and chemicals. However, stainless steel is not impervious to rust and requires frequent cleaning with mild soap and water or glass cleaner. Common conditions that cause corrosion or discoloration include chloride-containing cleansers, muriatic acid, concentrated soap residue, water with high iron content, contact with iron materials, trapped moisture, and salts. Discoloration or corrosion should be removed as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage, and can usually be restored with a mild cleanser or stainless steel cleaner and a Scotchbrite pad. Regular maintenance is necessary to maintain the luster and appearance of stainless steel indefinitely.
