The Duct Hunter is a device used to trace underground pipes without digging, minimizing disruption to roads and landscapes. To operate the device, attach a signal transmitter to the Duct Hunter and push the rod into the underground pipe. The signal radiates outward, allowing a receiver to detect the frequency and trace the pipe from above ground. The device can trace pipes to depths of up to 10 feet and locate various types of pipes, including sewer laterals, ductile iron, plastic, tile, and concrete pipes. The rod is marked in 5-foot increments and has a 6-inch bend radius.

Safety precautions include wearing safety glasses and gloves, keeping the rod clean and secure, and avoiding the use of slip joint pliers, locking pliers, or powered pulling equipment on the rod. The device should not be used on live circuits, as electric shock may result.

The Duct Hunter comes with an accessory kit that includes a roller guide, end ferrule, splice ferrule, adhesive, emery cloth, and a canvas storage pouch. Additional accessories, such as a sonde and sonde adapter, are available separately.

The device has a one-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship, and the manufacturer provides instructions for operation, maintenance, and repair.
