Read and understand this manual before operating the Gas Turbine Starter Series ST400G. Failure to observe warnings could result in injury. Operate the starter at air pressures not exceeding the pressure rating stamped on the nameplate, and always turn off the air or gas supply before installing, removing, or adjusting accessories. The starter is designed for gas operation and requires caution due to the danger of fire, explosion, or inhalation. Always test the starter after assembling, and operate it only when properly installed on the engine. Wear eye and hearing protection, and use only recommended Ingersoll Rand accessories.

To install the starter, read the manual prior to installation, and ensure the flange mounting kit is used. Keep piping, hoses, and valving clean, and install a 300 mesh strainer in the inlet line. Make connections bubble-tight, and use Ingersoll Rand No. SMB-441 Sealant or non-hardening No. 2 Permatex on threaded connections. Pipe away all discharges to a safe area, and consider installing a "glad hand" for emergency repressurizing.

When connecting the starter to a receiver tank, bleed off air pressure through a valve or petcock, and drain off accumulated water. Install the SRV125 Starter Relay Valve on the end of the receiver tank, ensuring the connection is made to the inlet side. Install the No. SMB-G618 Starter Control Valve on the dash panel, following proper installation procedures.
