General Safety Information

Instructions are for personnel involved in installation, operation, and maintenance of High Pressure Gate Valves.
Operators must be fully trained for correct performance of tasks.
Valves must not be operated outside conditions specified in ASME B16.34 and EN 12516.
Plant or installation must be taken out of operation before servicing or reinstalling valves.
Operators must take precautions to avoid burns from hot parts.

Product Description

Gate valves isolate fluid flow through pipelines.
Valves are marked with manufacturer's logo, nominal diameter, nominal pressure, material designation, and other relevant information.

Storage and Handling

Valves are delivered with wedge in closed position and protective covers on ends.
Storage facilities must be closed, clean, dry, and ventilated.
Valves must be stored in original packing and inspected every 3-4 months for contamination.
Valves must be cycled open and closed every 6 months to prevent packing from adhering to stem.

Installation and Start-up

Valves are delivered ready for use with wedge in closed position.
Protection covers must be removed and valve cleaned with compressed air before use.
Valves must not be disassembled or modified before installation to avoid voiding factory warranty.

Key Components

Body, bonnet, wedge, stem, and handwheel are key components of the gate valve.
Spare parts are available for certain components, such as bonnet packing and stem packing.

Warning

Valves must not be lifted using connection flange holes or handwheel.
Protection covers must not be removed from valve connection ends.
* Valves must be stored in the 'closed' position.
