CHROMagar Pseudomonas is a chromogenic medium for isolating and detecting Pseudomonas species, particularly P. aeruginosa, which is an indicator of recreational water disinfection efficacy and an opportunistic pathogen. The medium is used for food industry and environmental issues.

To use, inoculate the sample onto the plate, incubate at 30 °C for 24-36 hours, and observe typical colony appearances: Pseudomonas spp. appear blue-green, while most Enterobacteriaceae appear mauve to violet or are inhibited, and Gram-positive bacteria are inhibited.

A confirmation test, such as an oxidase test, is required for final identification. Quality control should be performed according to local regulations, and the product should be stored in the dark at 15-30 °C.

The medium composition includes agar, peptones, salts, and a selective and chromogenic mix, with a final pH of 7.5 +/- 0.2.
