Installation:
- Install adequate overpressure protection.
- Use an inlet block valve, outlet block valve, and manual bypass valve for continuous service.
- Install a sanitary inlet pressure gauge or transmitter upstream.
- Match flow direction with regulator's inlet/outlet marking.
- Install in well-drained horizontal pipe for best performance.
- Do not bury regulators underground or insulate them in insulated piping systems.

Operation:
- Pressure variations on the diaphragm cause movement, opposing the range spring.
- Diaphragm failure causes the regulator to fail closed.

Startup:
- Do not exceed the maximum rated pressure.
- Relax the range spring and preheat the system piping if hot.
- Slowly open block valves while monitoring outlet pressure.
- Develop system flow to near normal rate and reset the regulator set point.
- Close the bypass valve if installed.

Shutdown:
- On systems with a bypass valve, slowly open the bypass valve while closing the inlet block valve.
- Close the outlet block valve only if regulator removal is required.

Maintenance:
- Isolate the regulator from the system and relieve all pressure before performing maintenance.
- Trim replacement can be done with the valve still installed, but ensure all upstream and downstream valves are closed and pressure is relieved.
- Inspect and replace parts as necessary, using only genuine Steriflow Valve parts.
- Bench test and leak test the unit after maintenance.
- Diaphragm replacement involves removing the spring housing and replacing the diaphragm assembly.
