Wings out West 2022 requires mandatory use of SPOT or Garmin Inreach GPS trackers for safety. Pilots must turn on tracking before launch and register their tracker code on Highcloud by emailing Rob Couper with their SPOT or Garmin link and HGFA number. To find the code, log into SPOT, click share, view details, share, URL, and copy the end of the URL. Pilots must set up their GPS trackers with a device name using less than 5 characters, create a "WoW" profile, and set up check-in, custom, and help messages with the letters A, B, and C, respectively, along with SMS contacts for the Competition Director, Launch Director, and retrieve drivers. The A, B, and C messages indicate landing status: A for landed OK, B for landed safely and retrieved, and C for landed but in trouble.
