Summary

Before installation, ensure the transmission turns freely and shifts into all gears. Check the output shaft does not turn with the input shaft in Neutral. The transmission comes without oil, and Tremec High Performance Manual Transmission Fluid or Dexron III ATF is recommended. The clutch housing must be modified to clear the shift rail boss, and the centerline of the transmission must match the crankshaft centerline. The clutch disk requires an "air gap" of 0.030 to 0.085 inches, and proper clutch alignment is necessary. Maintain the original driveline angle and proper driveshaft operating angles to prevent vibrations and damage. The transmission accommodates various shifters and electronic connectors, including the reverse lockout solenoid, reverse light switch, and electronic speedometer output. Regular maintenance, including oil changes, is recommended, and a 500-mile break-in period is suggested to prevent premature wear and damage.
