Summary

This study investigates the relationship between corporate disclosure and cost of equity in Malaysian listed companies, excluding finance, services, and utilities firms, over a 3-year period from 2010 to 2012. The findings suggest that higher levels of disclosure may reduce a firm's cost of equity, consistent with previous research. The study uses robust panel regression with White robust standard errors to control for heteroscedasticity errors. The results imply that firms should disclose more information to achieve a better cost of capital. The study explains its findings using two perspectives: information cost and agency cost, highlighting the importance of corporate disclosure in reducing information asymmetry and attracting cheaper external financing.
