The OECD AI Compute Taskforce aims to provide consistent data and indicators on countries' computational infrastructure enabling AI systems' development. The taskforce will help countries answer three questions: how much AI compute they have, how it compares to other countries, and if current AI compute capacity is sufficient to support national AI development objectives. To achieve this, the taskforce will develop a common OECD Framework for measuring and benchmarking domestic AI compute capacity, consisting of a user-friendly framework, a benchmarking tool, and a model to gauge sufficiency. The framework will help policymakers make informed decisions about AI compute infrastructure and compare data across countries to understand national competitiveness in the global AI landscape.
