The Ipsos Global Trustworthiness Index 2021 surveyed 19,570 adults across 28 countries, including 1,000 in the US. The survey asked respondents to rate the trustworthiness of various professions and groups on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is very trustworthy and 5 is very untrustworthy.

Global Rankings:

1. Doctors (64% trustworthy)
2. Scientists (61% trustworthy)
3. Teachers (55% trustworthy)

US Rankings:

1. Doctors (69% trustworthy)
2. Armed forces (64% trustworthy)
3. Scientists (62% trustworthy)

Comparison of US and Global Rankings:

Doctors are the most trustworthy profession globally and in the US.
Scientists are the second most trustworthy profession globally and third in the US.
Teachers are the third most trustworthy profession globally and fourth in the US.

Least Trustworthy Professions:

Globally: Politicians (15% trustworthy), Advertising executives (14% trustworthy), and Bankers (10% trustworthy)
In the US: Politicians (9% trustworthy), Advertising executives (10% trustworthy), and Bankers (10% trustworthy)

Key Findings:

There is a significant gap in trustworthiness between the top three professions (doctors, scientists, and teachers) and the rest.
The US has a higher level of trust in the armed forces compared to the global average.
The global average has a lower level of trust in politicians, advertising executives, and bankers compared to the US.
