Summary

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is providing guidance on its use of guidance documents, where to find them, and their status. The DEA established a Guidance Document Portal pursuant to Executive Order 13891, which defines a guidance document as a statement of general applicability that sets forth a policy or interpretation. The portal contains all current DEA guidance documents, which are non-binding and do not have the force and effect of law. Guidance documents issued prior to November 2019 that were not compliant with the order were removed and will not be restored. The DEA will continue to post new guidance on the portal and registrants should periodically check for updates.
