Het Instituto de Salud Pública van Chili organiseert een extern kwaliteitsbeoordelingsprogramma (PEEC) om de kwaliteit en consistentie van de resultaten van laboratoria in de gezondheidszorg te waarborgen. Het Departement Salud Ocupacional van het instituut coördineert dit programma, dat laboratoria in staat stelt hun prestaties te evalueren en te verbeteren. In 2015 namen verschillende laboratoria deel aan het programma, waaronder ALS Patagonia S.A., LABORATORIO AMBIENTAL SGS-CHILE LTDA. en Laboratorio de Higiene Industrial. Het programma omvatte de beoordeling van de silicaconcentratie in luchtmonsters, met behulp van referentiematerialen met bekende silicaconcentraties. De resultaten van het programma worden gebruikt om de prestaties van de laboratoria te beoordelen en om verbeteringen aan te brengen in de kwaliteit van de risicobeoordeling voor werknemers.
