Summary

Researchers compared the dynamic tensile extrusion behavior of WCu composites made by different processes, including copper infiltration and metal injection molding. The composites, consisting of 60-90% tungsten, are used in shaped charge liners and have properties such as high heat resistance, thermal conductivity, and low thermal expansion. The study found that the metal injection molding method produced composites with a more homogeneous microstructure and higher density than the copper infiltration method. The dynamic tensile extrusion tests showed that the composites exhibited low axial strain and high tensile strength, with the metal injection molding composites having a more even distribution of copper. The results suggest that the metal injection molding method is a suitable manufacturing process for producing high-quality WCu composites.
