Summary

This study evaluated the short-term histological pulpal responses of three dentin adhesives (Prime & Bond 2.1, Syntac Single Component, and Scotchbond Multi Purpose Plus) as direct pulp capping agents on human primary teeth. Twenty-one healthy primary molars were prepared with class V cavities, exposed to the pulp, and treated with one of the adhesive systems. The teeth were extracted after 60 days and histologically evaluated. The results showed that a few samples exhibited "attempted bridge formation", while others showed no bridge formation. The study concluded that direct pulp capping with dentin bonding agents following the total-etch technique in primary teeth cannot be recommended due to the severe histological responses observed.
