Summary

A new approach to direct energy conversion using magnetic fluid is proposed. The device consists of a disk with a cell structure filled with magnetic fluid, which rotates under a magnetic field imposed by a bar magnet. The disk rotates when a high-temperature heat source and a low-temperature heat sink are applied. The performance characteristics of the device are presented, and the results show that the relative positions of the heating and cooling parts, as well as the positioning of the magnetic field distribution, are important for obtaining high output power characteristics. The device is feasible for direct energy conversion when there is a relatively high temperature difference in a moderate temperature range.
