Summary

Canada's board diversity has seen ongoing change, with the proportion of women on boards increasing year over year, and a similar trend emerging for visible minority directors. Women hold almost 30% of all board seats among TSX-listed companies, with larger companies demonstrating better diversity. However, there has been little progress among Indigenous peoples and persons with disabilities at the board and executive officer levels. The proportion of women executive officers is growing, but not for diversity beyond gender, with women making up 21% of executive officers on average. Visible minority directors hold 10.2% of board seats among CBCA corporations, but the proportion of Indigenous directors and directors with disabilities remains essentially unchanged.
