Summary

CARE Australia's project in Laos, from July 2019 to June 2020, aimed to boost coffee production and improve the livelihoods of farmers, particularly women and those with disabilities. The project assisted 2,643 farmers, including 1,079 women and 1,564 men, to increase their income and improve nutrition for their families. Key achievements include training farmers in coffee production, processing, and marketing, as well as establishing women-led coffee processing groups and improving access to markets. The project resulted in a 191% increase in coffee green bean sales volumes and a 175% increase in sales revenue. CARE also promoted gender equality and disability inclusion, and established partnerships with private sector buyers to support farmers.
