Summary

Kanthari and Braille Without Borders (BWB) have reached the halfway point of 2013. The 2013 kanthari leadership program started on May 13 with 22 participants from 11 countries, focusing on intercultural dialogue and smooth communication. The program includes setting up social projects and businesses in a fictitious country, Chichuhlonga, to prepare participants for real-life challenges.

In May, the team visited Europe, meeting with board members, presenting at PWC Zurich, and attending various events, including a book reading in Leipzig and a BLINDSIGHT film screening. UST Global, an IT firm, has been supporting kanthari with financial aid, internships, and professional guidance.

BWB India conducted empowerment seminars, including a science camp for blind adolescents and a computer course for visually challenged teachers. BWB Tibet has been working on marketing and sales for its vocational training farm products, with help from volunteers. A new music hall is under construction, sponsored by Sunrain. Four BWB graduates made history by attending a university entry exam with sighted peers. The organization received support from the Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple and participated in the TEDxFactory798 event.
