The European repo market was relatively orderly, but expensive, with French collateral trading more expensively than German. A lack of liquidity for non-core euro repo caught the market off guard, with a scramble for Italian and Spanish collateral and historic low rates. GBP repo rates saw downward pressure, while USD funding rates remained relatively unaffected. Excess USD liquidity helped normalize cross-currency bases, easing downward pressure on non-USD rates.
