Summary

La Norma Internacional de Contabilidad 8 (NIC 8) prescribe los criterios para seleccionar y modificar las políticas contables, así como el tratamiento contable y la información a revelar acerca de los cambios en las políticas contables, de los cambios en las estimaciones contables y de la corrección de errores, con el objetivo de realzar la relevancia y fiabilidad de los estados financieros de una entidad y su comparabilidad con los estados financieros de periodos anteriores y de otras entidades. La norma establece definiciones para términos como aplicación prospectiva y retroactiva, cambios en estimaciones contables, errores de periodos anteriores, materialidad e impracticabilidad, y proporciona pautas para la selección y aplicación de políticas contables, incluyendo la aplicación de las Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera (NIIF) y la evaluación de la materialidad de omisiones o inexactitudes.
