In the 2011 fiscal year, the total number of passengers using the substitute bus and train services on the Sendai Airport Access Line was 159,200, with an average of 4,350 passengers per day. The line was suspended due to the East Japan earthquake on March 11, 2011, and resumed operations on October 1, 2011. The number of passengers using the substitute bus service was 236,019, with 13,822 bus runs and 584 buses used. The passenger numbers for each station were: Sendai Airport Station (722,384), Minamisanriku Station (177,332), and Tsukinoki Station (692,041). The average daily passenger numbers for each station were: Sendai Airport Station (1,970), Minamisanriku Station (490), and Tsukinoki Station (1,890). Compared to the previous year, the passenger numbers decreased by 59.4% at Sendai Airport Station, 79.6% at Minamisanriku Station, and 80.8% at Tsukinoki Station.
