Summary

Many consumer IT products from reputable organizations fail despite significant investments, with examples including Google Glass, Samsung Galaxy 7, and Windows Vista. A study using the Delphi method found that a shortage of strategy culture contributes to these failures. The research proposes a framework to address this shortage and help practitioners, contributing to a new research stream on strategy culture. Factors that can help or inhibit success in new IT products include business network, new product development, marketing management, competent management, research and development, and organizational culture. Misalignment of business and IT strategies may also contribute to product failures. The study aims to generate a framework to minimize new product failures and provide an impetus for future research on strategy alignment and IT products.
