## Brambleside Academy Trust Behaviour Policy Summary

This policy outlines Brambleside Academy Trust's approach to behaviour management, aiming to create a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.

Key Aims:

Encourage responsible behaviour and boost student self-esteem.
Provide clear expectations for desired behaviour.
Foster a sense of pride and ownership in the school community.
Promote personal accountability and prepare students for adult citizenship.
Prevent bullying, racism, and anti-social behaviour.

Guiding Principles:

The policy is built around three core principles:

Be Respectful: Treating others with kindness and consideration.
Be Responsible: Taking ownership of actions and following rules.
Be Ready to Learn: Being prepared, engaged, and attentive in class.

Implementation Strategies:

Positive Reinforcement: Emphasizes praising good behaviour to encourage its repetition.
Clear Expectations: Explicitly teaches expected behaviours through the "Fantastic Walking" and "Fantastic Listening" principles and SHAPE (Speak Loud and Proud).
Proactive Management: Uses techniques like narrating positives, visible scanning, least invasive interventions, and "Pastore's Perch" to prevent distractions.
"Brighten Lines": Provides clear instructions, time limits, and signals to ensure understanding and focus.
"Live in the Now": Focuses on current behaviour rather than past missteps.

Recognizing & Responding to Positive Behaviour:

Smiles, words, VIP assemblies, pupil-of-the-day awards, postcards, and Brambleberry badges are used to acknowledge good behaviour.

Challenging Behaviours:

For persistent disruption, disrespect, or physical harm, a tiered response system is implemented:
Behaviour contract
Timer for disengagement from learning
Team around the child meetings
Referral to external support
Structured lunchtimes and learning plans
* Daily communication with parents

Inappropriate Behaviours:

These are defined as actions that violate the school's behaviour policy, including but not limited to bullying, racism, and defiance. The severity of the response depends on the nature and frequency of the behaviour.
