Summary

This study explores the problems of EAP course students in accomplishing Writing Task 1 of the IELTS Academic Module. The research employed a qualitative design with a case study approach, using triangulation of data collection methods including classroom observation, interviews, and documentation of students' texts. The study was conducted at an EAP course in a language center of a state university in Bandung, with nine participants chosen using purposive sampling, representing above average, average, and below average achievers in IELTS writing. Data collection techniques included classroom observation, interviews, and documentation of students' texts. The study aimed to identify the problems faced by students in writing and how they and their teacher addressed these problems.
