Emancipated student: financially independent, self-supporting student.
Extenuating circumstances: significant adverse impact on education/well-being.
Financial assistance: monetary contribution based on objectively determined need.
Game: organized contest between two teams.
Home high school: school where student is enrolled/credited toward graduation.
Home schooled student: considered a private school student.
In the same sport: practice/competition under published rules or in the same events.
Improper contact: verbal/written communication regarding athletic programs without parental request.
Initiate contact: communication regarding athletic programs without student/parent request.
Induce: persuasion/influence to attend a school for athletic participation.
Involved in any respect: engaging in non-school team activities.
Lives on a full-time basis: permanently domiciled, residing at least 5 days/week.
Limited eligibility: eligible except for varsity/state series competition.
Move: physical relocation with intent to reside indefinitely.
Non-boundaried school: private/charter school not accepting students from a fixed area.
One year: 365 consecutive days.
Parents: birth parents or adoptive parents.
Participate: engaging in organized tryouts/drills/practices/competitions.
Participation: act of engaging in organized activities.
Physical conditioning programs: organized activity without "skill of a sport" for physical development.
Prospective student-athlete: boy/girl not yet registered at a high school.
