Linguistic ethnography is an interpretive approach that studies local and immediate actions of actors from their point of view, considering how these interactions are embedded in wider social contexts and structures. It aims to make the familiar strange by examining institutions and social practices surrounding us in contemporary life. Linguistic ethnography combines linguistics and ethnography to understand the relationship between language and culture, which are seen as inseparable and socially inherited practices and processes in flux.
