Summary

The normal procedure for granting tenure and promotion is initiated by the faculty member and involves a 6-step process:
1. The faculty member submits a written request and portfolio by September 15.
2. A Promotion and Tenure Review Committee is formed by October 1, which reviews the portfolio and votes on the recommendation.
3. The committee's review and vote are completed by October 15, and the results are sent to the department chair.
4. The department chair reviews the committee's recommendation and forwards their own recommendation to the Dean of Instruction by November 1.
5. The Dean of Instruction reviews the recommendations and forwards their own to the Vice President for Academic Affairs by December 1.
6. The Vice President for Academic Affairs reviews the recommendations and forwards their own to the President by January 15, after which the applicant can withdraw their application if denied.
