The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations cover the use of certain polymers in contact with food. § 177.1600 pertains to polyester elastomers with a number average molecular weight between 20,000 and 30,000, and optional adjuvant substances such as 4,4′-Bis(alpha, alpha-dimethyl-benzyl)diphenylamine and Tetrabutyl titanate. § 177.1595 deals with polyetherimide resin, which must have an intrinsic viscosity of not less than 0.35 deciliter per gram and meet extractive limitations. § 177.1600 covers carboxyl-modified polyethylene resins, which consist of basic polymers produced from ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymers with no more than 25 weight percent of polymer units derived from methyl acrylate.
