Summary

MEXT and Ibaraki Prefecture conducted airborne monitoring to understand the effects of radioactive substances over a wide area, assessing future doses and deposition in evacuation zones. Monitoring was done using a helicopter equipped with a US DOE-provided system, measuring air dose rates and deposition of radioactive substances in Ibaraki Prefecture, within 100-120 km of Fukushima Dai-ichi NPP, from July 26 for about one week.
