In Al-Hasakeh, Syria, recent events include military operations in late 2019 that displaced 70,000 people, the expiration of the UN Cross Border Resolution in January 2020, and the onset of COVID-19 restrictions in March 2020. REACH assessed 44 collective centers in Al-Hasakeh sub-district in April 2020, finding:

- WASH: 50% of settlements lacked sufficient water, 68% had no water quality issues, and 66% had access to health facilities.
- Health & Information: 27% had free medicine for chronic illnesses, 77% needed job opportunities, and 34% needed assistance access or complaint information.
- Protection: 23% reported child labor or early marriage, and 98% had no access to education due to school closures.
- Food & Livelihoods: 55% lacked sufficient food, and 27% had no income access. Common food needs were canned chicken, vegetable oil, and fresh vegetables.
- Shelter & NFI: 59% needed clothing, 36% needed cooking stoves, and 30% needed cooking fuel.
- Movement & Origin: 65% intended to stay at least a year, and 96% originated from Ras al Ain sub-district.
- Priority Needs: Food (64%) and employment (59%) were top priorities, followed by medical care (34%).
