Summary

The Second International Meeting of Academic Institutions and Organizations Involved in Biosafety Education and Training was held in Kuala Lumpur from 16-18 April 2007, attended by 63 participants from 56 institutions. The meeting aimed to promote long-term education and training in biosafety, strengthen human resources capacities, and increase South-South and North-South cooperation. Participants discussed strategies for enhancing formal education and training in biosafety, reviewed progress in implementing previous conclusions and recommendations, and exchanged views on effectively implementing biosafety education and training decisions. They also made presentations on ongoing or planned biosafety education and training programmes and collaborative partnerships.
