Summary

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is a small, open economy where foreign trade plays a crucial role in its economic development. One of BiH's most important trading partners is Croatia, which joined the European Union (EU) in 2013. BiH is a member of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and had the most intense trade with Croatia within that framework. However, Croatia's exit from CEFTA and entry into the EU will change these trade dynamics.

This study analyzes BiH's foreign trade and its trading relations with Croatia and the EU before and after the latter's expansion. It highlights the significance of foreign trade for BiH and its main characteristics. The study also uses specific concentration and comparative methods to assess BiH's position in international trade and to anticipate changes following the EU's latest expansion. It aims to identify challenges that BiH companies may face when trading with their most important partner under new rules.
