Summary

The World Conservation Congress decides to rename the Commission on National Parks and Protected Areas to the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA), endorses its Strategic Plan, and welcomes its target audiences, objectives, and activities at global, regional, and national levels. The Congress urges the Chair of WCPA and the Director General to build connections and develop regional action plans, and strongly supports the establishment of a fund-raising initiative to implement the strategic plan. The Congress requests the Director General to ensure WCPA's participation in the biodiversity programme and to provide sufficient funding for the Commission's Operation Fund.
