Summary

NCHDs in non-training posts must enroll in a Professional Competence Scheme and maintain 20 externally validated educational credits per annum. The Continuous Professional Development Support Scheme (CPD-SS) provides up to 20 external credits or 3 days of training per year, with access to clinical courses and activities from Irish Training Bodies. Eligible NCHDs can register from July to September or mid-December to January, with two enrolment opportunities per year. The scheme has conditions, including no rollover of unclaimed credits and a cancellation policy. Eligibility criteria include enrollment in a Professional Competence Scheme, holding an NCHD contract, working in the public health service, and registration on the General or Supervised Division of the Medical Council's register.
