Australia has dropped to 43rd in the Global Gender Gap Index, down from 15th in 2006. The ACTU estimates that if women participated in the workforce at the same rate as men, they would earn an extra $26 billion annually, and cutting the pay gap in half would add $85 billion to women's economic security.
