Summary

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity invites Parties and relevant organizations to provide information on the status and trends of, and threats to, marine and coastal biological diversity, as well as progress made in implementing the programme of work on marine and coastal biological diversity. The information will be considered by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) at its 14th meeting in 2010. Parties and organizations are asked to submit their information by December 31, 2008, using a voluntary summary framework provided. The information should include progress made towards achieving goals, challenges, obstacles, and capacity-building needs, as well as case studies and suggestions for modifying the existing programme of work.
